About the upcoming season 9, “Bravely Making Your Business 1000% You”

What is 1000%? This expression is used as a metaphor meaning very high emphasis, or enthusiastic support. It’s been used in the political arena for many decades to express enthusiastic support of a candidate. It’s also been used to over-emphasize a position in a sarcastic form to illustrate polarity.
How does it relate to you? How much (or little) do you show up in your business? Are you presenting your business as a business? Or as you and your business? Showcasing you, your beliefs and everything you do that’s unique to you is what this season is all about.
The reason I came up with this idea is because I feel like that’s been my journey since I started my business in 2006. At first it was all about survival doing what I was doing in corporate. But over time, I started gaining confidence in how I did my work and what I was noticing my clients consistently struggling with. I focused on addressing those challenges, and over the years have developed a powerful and super effective way of delivering value to my now clients. But there was still something missing—and what was missing was me. Although my clients were experiencing it just in the simple art of working with me, but I wasn’t visibly expressing who I was or “putting myself out there” in a 1000% Terry way. That’s what I discovered more recently, and feel I’m in the middle of this exercise of not only discovering who I really am and how I can share that with the world more outwardly, but also giving myself permission to do so. That’s been the biggest mindset challenge and I’m still noodling through it. It’s been fun, a bit surprising, and quite a learning experience of my way of being.
The only thing that can’t be copied is you. You are one of a kind, an original, and with all of your thoughts, experiences, attitudes, personality, you deliver your work in the way you want, and how you want and to who you want.
In this upcoming season, I’m going to explore with guests the premise of bring more of you into your business. Not just doing your thing, but the mix of who you are and what you do to create a unique offering.
More and more people and businesses are looking for a higher experience, a better relationship with their partners and vendors. If we give them access to what that is for us, we will be more apt to get higher quality clients and referrals.
The key is twofold: one is having the courage to step into what makes you, you, and the other is to communicate and share it all to the world as a complement to your work and how you present your brand.
This approach can be used if you are selling widgets, software, you’re a middleman, in an MLM, or offering a high-end coaching or consulting service. Your business doesn’t matter. If you don’t want to be a commodity anymore where people only hire you because of your price or your final deliverable, it’s time to be 1000% you in and through your business.
